Last week, we had an extremely productive online meeting of our technology working group, which was attended by representatives from renowned companies such as ZF, Siemens , ZOLLER, CIMSOURE, DSC, TDM, EXAPT and Bechtle PLM took part.
This time, the meeting did not serve as a special preparation for an upcoming standards meeting, so that a free selection of topics was possible. This was also reflected in the points discussed, which are currently of particular interest to the participating companies:
Gear cutting tools (DIN4000-141, -142, -143): Here, there was intensive discussion about how to deal with central characteristics that have a completely different meaning in these series of standards than in the rest of the lists of characteristics. These differences pose unnecessary challenges for software companies in particular when it comes to automation. Here, uniform solutions have been found that bypass the standard. These will be included in Standard Openbase and distributed among the participants of the working group.
Position of the assembly coordinate system: Another focus was the precise determination of the position of the collet and clamping nut. This is crucial for accuracy and efficiency in tool assembly and the resulting overall length of the tool for collision analysis.
Definition and categorization of cassette tools: It is often difficult to determine the exact length. Feedback and practical experience are still limited here.
A big thank you to all participants for their valuable contributions and constructive discussions! Your expertise and commitment drive the development and application of standards and help us to overcome practical challenges in tool data exchange.
